I am a fitness trainer by trade but I have been an athlete my entire life.  But I’m not much of a runner. I have trained my body in the pass for speed, power, and strength.  I’m more of a sprinter.  I am a former football player, track & field sprinter, power lifter and bodybuilder. Most of these events are things that wouldn’t interest the average client that’s trying to get into shape.  So, I recently decided to start training to do 5k’s.  This is something that the average person can do after training for as little as three months. This will also be my new habit to keep myself fit and challenge me.

Running a 5k is a great challenge for anyone to try to complete. A 5k is only 3.1 miles.  It’s not to overwhelming.  All it takes is training three times a week. Three months is a good span of time to prepare yourself for this goal.   So Challenge yourself and complete a 5k. You will look better, feel better and be healthier.    So don’t let running intimidate you.  If you can’t run because of knee or back problems, you should walk a few 5k’s a year.  This will enable you to have a goal to shoot for in your walking.
